One of the most acclaimed arrangers in the country

Julinho Teixeira

A life dedicated to Brazilian music

Maestro, pianist and arranger, Julinho Teixeira has built a career intertwined with the recent history of Brazilian music — all the great names of our music have worked with him. In 2025, he received the Brazilian Music Award (Prêmio da Música Brasileira) in the Brazilian Musician category, at a ceremony held at the Theatro Municipal in Rio de Janeiro — in the same edition that honored Chitãozinho & Xororó, the duo with whom his story is intertwined.

It was Julinho who created the arrangement of “Evidências” (album Cowboy do Asfalto, 1990), including the famous guitar solo — written by him and recorded by Faíska. More than three decades later, the song became the most played song in Brazil in 2025, proof of the power and timelessness of his work.

Another landmark of his work is the iconic arrangement of “Brasil”, sung by Gal Costa — one of the most memorable arrangements in Brazilian music.

His career also includes the album Quatro Estações by Sandy & Junior, arrangements for Zeca Pagodinho, Alcione, Simone, Jorge Aragão and Zé Augusto, the musical direction of the TV show “Amigos”, the team of the first Xou da Xuxa (Som Livre, 1986) and compositions for soap opera soundtracks.

Leading the music arrangement and production team at PlayRec Studios, of which he is a managing partner, Julinho serves projects of all sizes — from small bands to symphony orchestras — combining studio experience with the sensitivity of someone who helped build classics of our music.
